BB’s Book Reviews: A Deeper Love Inside

31 May

deeper love

“A Deeper Love Inside” in the continuation of the saga that began with “The Coldest Winter Ever” written by Sister Souljah. This gritty novel tells the story of Porshce Santiaga, the younger sister of the infamous Winter Santiaga. The story picks up after the family has been torn apart after the prosecution of the patriarch and drug crime boss, Ricky Santiaga.

“A Deeper Love Inside” is one of those books that you just have to read. There are so many tragic episodes and plot turns that this book truly can’t be explained in a few sentences. Sister Souljah does a wonderful of painting a clear picture of the events that take place in Porsche’s story of self discovery. This novel also serves as a cautionary tale for those in the game.

Porsche’s journey is more than that of the common Urban Fiction full of drugs and sex. Sister Souljah’s story chronicles the life and evolution of a young woman from pampered princess to abandoned orphan and finally ends with the story’s main character finding her own way – on her own terms. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

BB’s Book Reviews: The Appetizer When You’re Not His Main Course

By Ni’cola Mitchell

This weekend I had the pleasure of reading, “The Appetizer When You’re Not His Main Course” by Ni’cola Mitchell.  This is an easy read that is sure to keep you immersed in the journey of 3 friends as they search for love and happiness.

Full of twists and turns, the story begins with the books main character Nia enduring a vicious attack by a deranged love interest.  This is only the beginning.  This book is jam packed with zigs and zags that keep you saying, “No he didn’t!”  There was never a dull moment.

Nicola Mitchell does and amazing job of creating well developed, full bodied characters in “The Appetizer When You’re Not His Main Course”.   By allowing each character in the novel to share their own story, in their own voice, the reader is able to better understand the characters thoughts and emotions.

I would definitely recommend this book to readers who are looking for a unpredictable story line.  I give this rollercoaster ride 4 out of 5 stars.

Here is a link to a Ni’cola Mitchell interview discussing her latest book and the media empire that she is creating.
